A night out on the town.. Limerick town. As you may already know, trying to go on a cheap night out lately seems to be quite difficult. Between the consumption of alcohol, how early people start drinking, the taxis, the kebab after the nightclub and you know, everything in between!!
But today, we are going to give you some inside tips into how you, yes, YOU, can avoid spending your paycheque all in one night.. and for just as little as €20.
As I mentioned, people begin drinking early lately. People want to almost make a day out of it, rather than just a night. But why follow the crowd? Why not suggest a good old fashioned pre drinks. For wine in Lidl and Aldi for as little as €3.99 you can save yourself almost €30 alone! Suggest a pre-drinks, no matter what the occasion. Often it leads to be more fun, but most definitely, less expensive.
Taxis are the absolute killer when it comes to nights out when you don’t have a designated driver, how about the bus for just €2.50. the 304 and 304A bus brings you from the University of Limerick to the centre of Limerick City. Or how about a taxi service, with other people? On Free now there is an option where you can share the taxi with anyone who is going to the same destination as you, so long as you click that option. I tried this and it only cost me €2.50! The same price as the bus!! Going home using the same option, €5 for one night of taxis.. What else can I spend this extra savings on?…
Night club entry… ahh the one that catches you out! UNLESS.. you know some good tips. Smyths bar club icon, my personal favourite when it comes to Limerick, the live band in the late bar, followed by a nightclub entry at 12.. meaning 2.5 hours of nightclub music. This is my favourite because getting into Smyths means on some nights, they’ll let you in for free to the nightclub, meaning no fee to get in. But usually to get in it ranges from €5-€8. Nightclubs for 18-20 year olds is Angel Lane, about €5 to get in and they do GREAT drink deals.. I’d nearly consider going in there for Pre drinks myself..
Bars are becoming more and more popular in Limerick, the black rabbit, Charlie chaplins, the locke, the list goes on… but do not be afraid because they all offer great drink deals! With the savings from the taxi and the pre drinks, you will definitely be able to get one or two drinks.. or why not all chip in towards a drink deal and get 6 bottles in Smyths for example.. for €15!! €3 euro drinks.. just like in angel lane.
Concluding the night with something delicious to make yourself feel extra crap in the morning when you wake up is the key to a wild night out.. So buy a pizza for 3 for €3 when your picking up you wine in Aldi.
Living off a budget you pick up all these tips and tricks and surviving a night out with just €20 is totally possible.

To be safe, we would always recommend having some spare money in the back of your wallet or purse just in case, as plans don’t always go accordingly. Always be safe and always ask the taxi you came in with for their phone number as they will usually keep the rate the same.
